Dr. Xiaoxiang Zhang is currently an associate professor of GIScience at the College of Hydrology and Water Resources, Hohai University, Nanjing, China. He has served as the director of the Institute of Geographical Information Science and Engineering, Hohai University from 2017, and the deputy director of the Center for Geospatial Intelligence and Watershed Science(CGIWas)(http://cgiwas.hhu.edu.cn/), Hohai University from 2019. He hasobtained a PhD in Geographical Information System (GIS) form Nanjing University, China. He also haswas also a Bachelor of Engineeringdegree in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing from Wuhan University, China. In 2012-2013, he worked as a visiting scholar at the School of Geographical Sciences & Urban Planning, Arizona State University, USA. From 2020, he has worked as a senior visiting scholar at Tthe Urban Big Data Centre, University of Glasgow, UK.
His researchinterests covers a wide range of areas in geographic information sciencesuch as, (including spatial analysis, spatial statistics, spatial modeling, and spatial optimization, etc) and its application in Hhydrology and Wwater Rresources. Currently, he focuses on developing quantitative methods for spatially integrated analysis and modeling and particularly their applications in flash floodshazard. Also, hHe is also interested in the novel technologies in data-driven flash flood hazard analysis and decision making, including machine learning, and deep learningetc.
He has undertaken and participated in three National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Projects and onea project of the National Key Research and Development Programproject. He has published more than 60 articles, 1a translationed book and 1an edited book.
