Prof. Xiekang Wang has been a professor of State Key Laboratory of Hydraulics and Mountain River Engineering, Sichuan University since June, 2006. He obtained a B.E. from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, Chengdu University of Science and Technology (1994), a M.E and a Ph.D. from the College of Water Resource & Hydropower, Sichuan University (1997, 2000). He served as an assistant researcher, lecturer,and associate professor of the State Key Laboratory of Hydraulics and Mountain River Engineering, Sichuan University from July, 1997 to June, 1999, from July, 1999 to June, 2001, and from July, 2001 to May, 2006 respectively. His research focuses on basic theoretical issues and engineering techniques of hydraulics and river dynamics, water-sediment disaster, flash flood etc.. He has launched three national-level scientific projects about flash flood, including “Key Technologies for Real-time Dynamic Forecasting and Early Warning of Flash Floods the Project of National Key R&D Program of China (2018-2020)”, “Induced by Heavy Rainstorm and Resulting in Flash Floods at Mountainous Areas in Southwest China the Key Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China (2017-2021)” and “Study on Dynamic Mechanism of Fluvial Processes in Lotus Root-shaped Movable Channel Induced by Flash Flood Debris Flow, the General Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China (2012-2015)”. He was one of the academic and technology leaders in Sichuan Province, award winners of New Century Excellent Talents (NCET) of the Ministry of Education of China and supported by the tenth session of college youth teachers fund of Henry Fok Education Foundation. He has published 45 SCI papers, 48 EI papers, and won the first prize and second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education in 2010 and 2013 respectively.
